Things I Bought That I Barely Used ♡

Not every “must-have” product ended up being useful for us personally. A few items simply didn’t fit our routine, while others turned out unnecessary based on my postpartum recovery and feeding journey. Every baby — and every mom — is different, so these are just my honest personal experiences.

BARELY USED

Frida Mom Perineal Healing Spray

I had a fourth-degree tear after delivery, but surprisingly I barely used this. My recovery went well naturally, so it ended up sitting unused most of the time.

DIDN’T WORK FOR US

Fisher-Price Breathing Otter

Many parents love this toy, but my baby personally never showed much interest in it during the newborn stage.

REGRET PURCHASE

Fisher-Price Musical Play Mat

Another item that didn’t work for us. My baby simply preferred being held more than spending time on the mat during the early months.

WAIT BEFORE BUYING

Breast Milk Leak Pads

Because I struggled more with undersupply rather than oversupply, I rarely needed leak pads. I would personally recommend waiting to see how your feeding journey goes before stocking up heavily.

UNUSED

Nipple Shields

I bought these expecting breastfeeding pain, but I thankfully never ended up needing them.

NOT NEEDED EARLY

Baby Car Mirror

I barely used this during the first few months because I usually sat beside my baby during car rides anyway. However, I do think it becomes much more useful later once babies grow bigger and parents start sitting in the front more often during drives.

WAIT UNTIL BABY FITS

Momcozy Carrier with Hip Cushion

I would not consider this a newborn carrier. Many babies may fit comfortably from around 3.5–4 months onwards depending on their size and development, while smaller babies may need a little more time before this style of carrier feels comfortable.

But I do think moms should wait and check their baby’s body size and comfort before buying this type of hip cushion carrier.

BETTER EARLY-MONTH PICK
Momcozy newborn carrier 3 to 24 months

Momcozy Newborn-Friendly Carrier

If I were choosing again for the early months, I would personally go for this softer ergonomic carrier style instead. It feels more suitable for smaller babies and looks easier to use during the newborn and early baby stage.

This is not one of my “barely used” items, but I am including it as the alternative I would consider instead of buying a hip cushion carrier too early.

♡ little note

One thing motherhood taught me very quickly is that babies are incredibly different. Some products become lifesavers for one family and completely unnecessary for another — and that’s completely okay.
