Baby Essentials by Age ♡
Baby essentials change so much during the first year. What feels useful in the newborn stage may not be what you need once your baby starts rolling, playing, eating solids, crawling, or learning new skills. I wanted to organise this section by age, so it feels easier to plan slowly instead of buying everything at once.
Newborn Essentials
This stage is mostly about feeding, sleep, comfort, bath care, soft clothes, burp cloths, diapers, and simple items that make the early postpartum days easier.
READ NEWBORN ESSENTIALSPlaytime & Early Development
Around this age, babies become more alert and curious. Tummy time toys, soft books, sensory toys, teething products, rattles, play mats, and simple feeding preparation items become more useful.
READ 3–6 MONTH ESSENTIALSStarting Solids & Feeding
This is where high chair essentials, silicone bibs, suction bowls, baby spoons, open cups, straw cups, freezer trays, splat mats, snack cups, and simple food prep tools become very helpful.
READ SOLIDS & FEEDING PRODUCTSBooks, Toys & Motor Skills
After one year, I would focus more on board books, stacking cups, shape sorters, wooden puzzles, push walkers, activity cubes, Montessori-style toys, and simple activities that support motor skills and learning.
READ TODDLER TOYS & BOOKS
Before Mira was born, I spent countless hours researching baby products, reading reviews, watching videos, and creating shopping lists. Looking back, I realise that no amount of preparation can fully predict what your own baby will love, need, or completely ignore.
Some products became part of our daily routine, while others stayed tucked away in drawers. That’s why I’ve organised these recommendations by age — not to encourage buying more, but to help you buy more intentionally.
Motherhood already comes with enough overwhelm. My hope is that these guides help you focus on what truly matters, save money where possible, and feel a little more confident as your baby grows through each stage.
